EUGREENEXT

Call: ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH – Project number: 101047962
granted at the Università degli Studi Suor Orsola Benincasa (Naples, Italy) aims to create a new label to highlight an innovative approach to fundamental rights (health, environment, including nature and animals, ownership, consumer protection) in light of sustainability – Green Rights – within the European Union.

The Chair is pleased to announce a call for papers for the
a.y. 2021/2022 EUGREENEXT Workshop

“Design of rights for eco-food and eco-fertility: markets and causal relation”
Description

The objective of the workshop is to discuss the relationship between ecosystems and human health, having regard to the role of businesses and markets, from farm to fork, and the impact of pollution on health.
Choices of businesses and markets development in the food supply chain, as well as information and advertising to consumers, may affect, ultimately, fundamental rights, such as health.
Regulation of these aspects and their application in practice are crucial to define the substance of individual rights (e.g. right to healthy environment, consumer protection, health).
Actual content of rights depends also on available remedies in case of violation. Therefore, the workshop aims to analyze how health may be affected by dangerous activities or damages to the environment, as high levels of pollution, and how losses can be compensated, with a focus on the causal connection between the conduct and the plaintiff’s harm.
Causes and consequences of pandemics or other widespread diseases is included in the workshop spectrum.
The workshop aims to bring together academics (Professors, Researchers, Ph.D.candidates, young scholars), experts, stakeholders, and civil society, and stimulate them to participate through the present call for papers.
Contributions from any discipline in law, science and social sciences (e.g. biology, medicine, economics, design, sociology, psychology) are particularly welcome, as well as case studies. Submissions from junior scholars, women, and members of other equity-seeking groups are especially appreciated.
The relevance of the event is twofold:
– advance in research, stimulating interdisciplinary dialogue between law and science, economics and other social sciences
– disseminate advanced knowledge on European Green Rights and promote awareness and ideas from society, stimulating the dialogue with public actors as well.
